New executives named at SBA
Gov’t contracting chief named
It’s official: there is a new executive heading the Small Business Administration’s efforts to spur federal contracting with small businesses.
Robb Wong
SBA Administrator Linda McMahon announced the appointment of Robb Wong as Associate Administrator for the Office of Government Contracting and Business Development.
In that position, Wong oversees the government’s efforts to meet small business procurement goals.
Wong, a graduate of the Georgetown U. Law Center, joined the SBA as an attorney in the SBA’s Office of General Counsel. He then became a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Houston District Office, and later was Acting District Director/Counsel in the SBA’s Lubbock (TX) District Office. Most recently he was the chief executive of FedSolve LLC, a management consulting company in Rockville, MD.
McMahon made three other high-level appointments as well.
Peter Cazamias
McMahon also named Peter Cazamias as Associate Administrator for the Office of International Trade. He is in charge of federal and state trade development, international trade finance and policy, and administration and operations.
Cazamias has a law degree and an MBA. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Captain. Most recently, he consulted to a real estate private equity fund in the UK, and before that, was a manager for an oilfield service supplier in Texas. He also has worked in Hong Kong and India.
Allen Gutierrez
Allen Gutierrez was appointed as Associate Administrator for the Office of Entrepreneurial Development. He oversees the SBA’s Women’s Business Centers, Small Business Development Centers and SCORE. Most recently, he was executive director of The Latino Coalition, a national advocacy group for Hispanic business owners. From 2001 to 2006, he was at the SBA as senior advisor to the COO, and senior advisor on international trade. An immigrant from Costa Rica, he earned a B.A. from the U. of Southern California.
Michael Hershey
Michael Hershey was named Associate Administrator for the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs. Hershey was principal of Columbia Strategies consulting firm. He previously was senior vice president of government relations for the National Association of Broadcasters. He also was chief of staff to U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA). He has a B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College.
