Twelve major federal science agencies have created Science.gov, a website that links to a smorgasbord of scientific information from within and outside the government.

According to the site, “Science.gov contains reliable information resources selected by the respective agencies as their best science information. Two major types of information are included — selected authoritative science websites and databases of technical reports, journal articles, conference proceedings, and other published materials. (The specific content varies by database.) The selected websites can be explored from the science.gov homepage. The Web pages and the databases can be searched individually or simultaneously from the search page.”

The site is organized by topic, ranging from agriculture and food to science education. For example, the “Applied Science and Technologies” section provides links to such high-profile topics as Defense Department R&D as well as out-of-the-way destinations such as the Virtual Cement and Concrete Testing Laboratory.
