Reports Required on BioBased Products
The FAR councils also adopted a final rule requiring contractors to report their use of biobased products on service and construction contracts.
Contractors must file annual reports showing the dollar value of biobased products used on each contract.
President Obama has directed agencies to increase the use of biobased products. The Department of Agriculture maintains a list of more than 10,000 products that are eligible eligible for the procurement preference at www.biopreferred.gov.
The FAR councils said reports will be required on contracts in these product service codes:
A—Research and Development;
F—Natural Resources Management;
J—Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding of Equipment;
M—Operation of Government-Owned Facility;
S—Utilities and Housekeeping Services;
T—Photographic, Mapping, Printing, and Publication Services;
Y—Construction of Structures and Facilities; and
Z—Maintenance, Repair or Alteration of Real Property.
