Rung names 11 category managers
Anne Rung, chief procurement officer for the federal government, named 11 executives who will oversee category management acquisition efforts in 10 product and service areas.
Category management is a form of standardization and consolidation within categories of contracts. Rung wrote in a blog that the Obama administration’s efforts of category management and acquisition reform have resulted in nearly $2 billion in savings since 2009.
Overall, the new team will oversee nearly $270 billion in annual federal spending, Rung wrote.
The executives and their categories are:

- Tiffany T. Hixson, GSA, Professional Services category manager;
- Jaclyn Smith, DHS, Security and Protection category manager;
- Mary Ruwwe, GSA, Facilities and Construction category manager;
- George R. Prochaska, GSA, Industrial Products and Services category manager;
- Greg Hammond, GSA, Office Management category manager;
- Lisa A. Roberts, DOD, Transportation and Logistics category manager;
- Timothy Burke, GSA, Travel and Lodging category manager;
- Rob Briede, OPM, Human Capital Products and Services category manager;
- Dr. Jonathan Woodson, DOD, Medical Products and Services category manager;
- and David J. Shulkin, M.D., VA, Medical Products and Services category manager.
