Obama asks for $206M for SBA small biz development programs
Includes increases for Women’s Biz Centers, veterans outreach SBA consolidation & reorganization on table again; details scarce
Most of the president’s budget proposal for the Small Business Administration in fiscal 2016 was straightforward, with a flat budget overall and small increases planned for many of its entrepreneurial and small business development programs.
What was surprising was that Obama apparently has opened the door once again to reorganizing parts of, or possibly all of, the SBA, even though he previously floated a similar idea in 2012 that proved to be unpopular. At this time, the details of the current consolidation plan are vague and it’s unclear if the president intends to go as far as he suggested in 2012.
