Senators air concerns with Jovita Carranza
There were many smiles along with a few gentle questions for Jovita Carranza--President Trump’s pick as the next administrator of the SBA--in a recent Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship hearing.
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-UT, was skeptical about the SBA’s $750,000 net worth limit for “disadvantaged” owners. Carranza said she’d look into it.
Sen. Ben Cardin, D-MD, ranking Democrat, pointed out that Baltimore, MD would benefit from a Women’s Business Center. Carranza was on it.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL, committee chair, asked Carranza to follow up on the panel’s interest in cybersecurity protections for small firms. The committee’s several letters to the SBA on that topic have gotten no response, Rubio said.
“I will expeditiously work on that,” responded Carranza.
