    • GAO may charge for bid protests

    The Government Accountability Office is asking Congress for permission to charge a fee for filing a bid protest, according to an article by Bloomberg Business Week.

    The charge could be a $240 flat fee to help fund an online docket system, or some combination of flat fee and additional charges for filing supplementary documents.

    The agency is struggling to handle a growing caseload of bid protests, with 2,475 protests filed in fiscal 2012, which was a 75% increase from fiscal 2007.
