  • GSA Schedule sales fall in FY2012

While overall sales from the General Services Administration Schedules fell by 2.9% in fiscal 2012, a small number of categories got a boost, according to the latest figures compiled from a federal database by Set-Aside Alert.

Total sales for the GSA schedules dropped to $37.5 billion in fiscal 2012, down from $38.6 billion in fiscal 2011.

However, purchases on Schedule 520, for financial business solutions, jumped by nearly 14%, to $1.5 billion, up from $1.3 billion.

Another high-performing category was Schedule 66, for scientific equipment and supplies. Sales there rose by 5.7% during the year, to $797 million, from $754 million.

CORP Schedule sales increased slightly to $823 million, from $820 million.

Every other category experienced reduced activity, in some cases drastically so.

The largest decrease was for Schedule 71, office furniture, which tumbled from $1.6 billion to $1.2 billion, a 22% reduction.

“MOBIS” services on Schedule 874 fell by 4.9%, to $4.9 billion, down from $5.1 billion.

Information technology purchases on Schedule 70 dropped to $15.4 billion, down from $15.7 billion. That represents a 2% reduction.

Office supply purchases on Schedule 75 also slid by about 2%, going from $722 million in fiscal 2011 to $707 million last year.

The GSA has targeted Schedule 75 for consolidation under its new demand model. The goal is to rid the schedules program of underperforming vendors to reduce administrative costs.

Other sales were Schedule 84, $2.5 billion, down from $2.6 billion; and Schedule 874V, $1.13 billion, down from $1.15 billion.
