  • Bill for SDVOSB status after death

Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-CA, has submitted legislation to assist the surviving spouse of a service-disabled veteran small business (SDVOSB) federal contractor, following the death of the veteran.

The surviving spouse would have three to 10 years to transition the firm from SDVOSB status, McNerney said in a news release.

“The effects of losing SDVOSB status immediately can put severe financial strain on a business owner’s spouse or family members, harm operations and jeopardize jobs,” he wrote.
