    • Shutdown or showdown on Oct. 1?

    With just days until the end of the fiscal year for 2013 and no federal budget in place, there is a significant chance of a federal government shutdown on Oct. 1.

    At press time, Congressional leaders were preparing for a major fight and federal agencies were preparing to suspend all non-essential operations.

    House GOP members have said they will not approve a budget unless it defunds “Obamacare.”
