The Army says it may set aside some work on its Modular Future Force and Future Combat Systems for small businesses. The Future Combats Systems program is a long-range, multibillion dollar R&D project led by Boeing Co. and SAIC.
In a Sept. 4 sources sought notice, the Army asked for capability statements from small companies with experience in large Global Enterprise Systems Engineering. Future Combat Systems is an ambitious program to create a networked battlefield capability. In development since 1999, it has fallen behind schedule and soared over budget.
