GSA has developed an electronic wizard to help agencies comply with Section 508, the requirement that federal electronic data must be accessible to people with disabilities.

The Buy Accessible Wizard is available at www.buyaccessible.gov. It can determine if Section 508 applies to an acquisition, identify the standards that apply, develop wording for a solicitation and document compliance.

Buyers may also use the wizard to ensure compliance when making purchases under $2,500. Those micropurchases are no longer exempt from Section 508 requirements.

In a memo, the Office of Management and Budget repeated the importance of complying with Section 508 and urged agencies to use the wizard.
