Information on contract opportunities in Iraq is available at the Coalition Provisional Authority’s website, http://cpa-iraq.org.

Scroll down the left side of the home page and click on “Requests for Proposals.”

Many of the contracts to rebuild Iraqi infrastructure, such as telecommunications systems, will be awarded for a 24-month period, said Linton Wells, principal deputy assistant secretary of Defense for networks and information integration: “And so the business decision has to be to decide either to recover your investment within 24 months, or estimate, or bet ahead, if you will, that you’ll be able to continue. But after 24 months, the Iraqi government in place at that point will have the decision to make whether to continue.”

The site includes links to the Iraq Reconstruction Task Force and to U.S. government Iraq reconstruction contracts.

It also provides e-mail addresses through the U.S. military’s Central Command for Iraqi government ministries, which may or may not be functioning.

The home page is dominated by a reward poster offering $25 million for information leading to the capture of former President Saddam Hussein.
