    Senior federal executives, along with dozens of lawmakers, have notched up their efforts in recent days to pressure federal agencies to expand their use of strategic sourcing to save money for the government.

    EXTENDED: Small Business Subcontractor Prompt Payment policy
    The White House has extended its existing policy urging federal agencies to accelerate payments to all prime contractors so that the primes can pay small business subcontractors promptly.

    SBA issues final rule on subs
    A House committee probing contracting at the Internal Revenue Service released a highly critical 157-page report charging a small business IRS contractor with multiple questionable activities, including inappropriate communications and various misrepresentations.

    Column: Time to Reengineer the HUBZone program?
    The HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) program was created in 1997 to provide government contracting incentives to small firms to establish themselves in places where unemployment is above the norm, to hire employees from areas of high unemployment, and to stimulate capital investment in those areas. The goals are laudable; the execution has fallen short. It’s time to take a look at this program and reengineer it for success.
