GSA has added Microtech LLC to its Veterans Technology Services (VETS) government-wide acquisition contract. The agency said the award was a “corrective action” taken after a review of the evaluation process. Microtech qualified for work under Functional Area 2 of the contract, covering software and system design and development, information technology strategic planning and business process reengineering. Forty-four other companies won VETS awards in December. The GWAC has a potential value of $5 billion over 10 years.
Senate Small Business Committee Chairman John Kerry says women’s business centers “are receiving their federal grants months and even years late,” and has asked the SBA inspector general to investigate. In a statement, the Massachusetts Democrat said, “Leaders from WBCs around the country have charged that the application process for grants is arduous with circuitous procedures that result in delayed grant disbursals for qualified centers.” “These centers should be allowed to focus on providing these services, instead of worrying about how to get their funding from Washington,” he added.
The Director of National Intelligence has name a former TRW Inc. executive to the new post of deputy director for acquisition. Alden Munson Jr. helped develop the nation’s spy-satellite network and was named a Pioneer of National Reconnaissance by the National Reconnaissance Office in 2000. Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell has made acquisition excellence one of his priorities. “Al brings with him a tremendous amount of senior-level industry experience,” McConnell said in a statement.
Anoop Prakash is SBA’s new associate administrator for Entrepreneurial Development. His responsibilities include Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers and SCORE. Prakash was most recently vice president of LexisNexis Special Services Inc. in Washington. |
