The Transportation Security Administration wants industry to produce a Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bag for air travelers. In a request for information, the agency said, “TSA is seeking prototype laptop computer bags and designs that would reduce, if not eliminate altogether, the unloading and repacking time of laptops at security checkpoints in airports.” TSA said more than one-quarter of airline passengers carry laptops. The requirement that they be removed from bags for inspection is a common source of complaints. Responders are invited to submit a written proposal or prototype bags and designs to TSA by April 17.
