The Homeland Security Department has created a one-stop portal for businesses at www.dhs.gov/openforbusiness.

“It’s designed to answer the question that the business community asks: ‘How do I do business with the Department of Homeland Security,’” said Kevin Boshears, director of the department’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.

The site includes links to active solicitations and to the department’s procurement forecasts. It links to acquisition offices in the various bureaus and provides contact information for each bureau’s small business specialists.

“The idea was to try to centralize the information that would be of interest to the business committee,” Boshears said at a procurement forum sponsored by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

He said the site is a work in progress: “We’re open to any improvements we can make.”
