Top 30 federal agencies for 8(a) set-asides
DOD, HHS, DHS at top of list
It pays to know which federal agencies are especially active in the 8(a) arena.
Since 8(a) contracts, upon expiration, must stay within 8(a) in most circumstances under federal rules, the top agencies for current 8(a) set-asides also offer the best opportunities for future 8(a) set-asides.
Set-Aside Alert downloaded a federal data set of $7.4 billion in 8(a) set-aside-only contracts expiring in calendar 2016 and beyond. We sorted by agency to compile an exclusive list of the Top 30 Federal Agencies for 8(a) Set-Asides.
The Defense Department ranks highest, with $2.3 billion, followed by Health and Human Services, $1.1 billion; and Homeland Security, $842 million.
Surprisingly low on the list was the Veterans Affairs Department, with only $6 million.
