QSS Group Sold for $250 Million IT contractor QSS Group Inc. has agreed to be acquired by Perot Systems Corp. for $250 million in cash. QSS, a graduated 8(a) firm based in Lanham, MD, was founded by Frank Islam in 1994. The companies estimated its revenue at more than $260 million for calendar year 2007. “We are very pleased to join forces with Perot Systems,” Islam said in a statement. “QSS and Perot Systems have complementary capabilities and very similar cultures, and I believe that together the two companies will produce a powerful government services growth engine. As a result, this acquisition will create even better advancement opportunities for our hard- working team.” The announcement did not say whether Islam will stay with the company and QSS officials did not immediately return phone calls. Originally a NASA contractor, QSS Group’s current clients also include the Army, Coast Guard, Department of Health and Human Services, NOAA, Department of Treasury and the intelligence community. The company operates as the prime contractor on more than 90% of its contracts. Perot Systems, founded in Plano, TX, by H. Ross Perot, said the acquisition will strengthen its platform for growth within the federal government services sector, give it several significant governmentwide acquisition contracts and further strengthens it IT capabilities. The deal also expands Perot’s business with the departments of Homeland Security and Defense. Following the acquisition, Perot’s government contracts will be valued at approximately $600 million. The company’s total annual revenue is about $2 billion.
