Web Watch: Procurement Website Needs Update The government’s main database of contract information, the Federal Procurement Data System-Next Generation, needs a next-next generation. It’s a little behind the times. The website, www.fpds.gov, is not compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, the most recent version of the world’s most widely used Web browser. IE8 was launched in March. There are two workarounds: Next to the navigation bar on your IE8 browser, there is a “Compatible View” button that enables you to access fpds.gov. If you don’t see that button, click on “Page” then “Compatible View Setting” to get the same result. However, it took the FPDS-NG Help Desk three-and-a-half hours to provide the fix
