Leader swap: Murphy, Nielson in; Robinson-Burnette moving on
There were three recent personnel transitions of note.
The change most directly affecting small business federal contractors is the departure of longtime career executive Jackie Robinson-Burnette from the Small Business Administration.
In November, Robinson-Burnette began work in a position as Government Contracting Domain Expert at Live Oak Bank, headquartered in Wilmington, NC.
Robinson-Burnette most recently was deputy associate administrator of government contracting and business development at the Small Business Administration. She also previously had been in charge of the SBA’s 8(a) program, deputy at the Army’s Office of Small Business Programs and a contracting officer with the Army for 13 years.
In other changes, the Senate approved Kirstjen Nielsen as Secretary of the Homeland Security Dept. and Emily Murphy to head the General Services Administration.
Nielson, an attorney and cybersecurity specialist, was chief of staff under the previous DHS secretary John F. Kelly. Murphy was senior counsel to the House Small Business Committee and also had served as Chief Acquisition Officer at GSA.
