More than a third of the consolidated contracts identified by the Defense Department and the General Services Administration actually were not consolidated contracts, according to the Government Accountability Office.

The GAO reviewed 157 contracts, more than half of the consolidated contracts identified by DOD and GSA. Of those, 34% of the DOD contracts and 100% of the GSA contracts were misidentified and were not consolidated.

The DOD and GSA “do not know the full extent to which they are awarding consolidated contracts. This is the result of contracts being misreported in the federal procurement data system,” the GAO said.
