IT contract reform on the table
The Healthcare.gov website’s woes could end up making federal IT procurement reform a higher priority for policy makers.
President Obama blamed “cumbersome and outdated” IT procurement systems for some of the difficulties in launching the website.
Media observers say the flawed rollout may spur change in how IT systems are contracted.
“The bungled Obamacare website rollout has drawn unprecedented attention to an $80 billion system layered with cost overruns, slow actions and shoddy outcomes,” according to Politico.
“HealthCare.gov’s silver lining--everyone cares about IT procurement now,” was the headline on a NextGov story.
