GSA revamps management of SAM.gov
To address ongoing concerns about the System for Award Management (SAM), the General Services Administration has assigned two of its top executives to oversee its operation, the agency said.
Mary Davie, acting Federal Acquisition Service commissioner, and Casey Coleman, GSA’s CIO, are now in charge of SAM.gov.
“GSA will ensure that the short-term fixes and the long-term vision of creating a common acquisition platform across government rests squarely with the leadership of our acquisitions and technical experts,” the agency said in a statement. Currently, the project manager is run by the Office of Government-wide Policy.
Developed by GSA and prime contractor IBM, SAM has had a spotty performance record since its July debut. In late August, Defense Department officials started allowing its contractors to register in databases other than SAM.
