Grants Offer Small Businesses Help With Teaming

Eleven companies and organizations have been chosen for a pilot program to help small businesses form teams.

The Small Business Teaming Pilot Program was created by Congress in the 2010 Small Business Jobs Act. SBA Administrator Karen Mills said, “The teaming pilot program will help small businesses grow and create jobs by giving them the tools they need to work together on larger contracts.”

The grantees will help small firms find teaming partners, form teaming arrangements, and find and bid on larger contracts. The teams may be joint ventures or mentor-protégé relationships.

SBA said the federal grants will allow organizations to leverage their existing resources. They will collaborate with SBA district officers, resource partners and other federal, state, local and tribal government development programs.
