Contracting Thresholds to Increase

The Federal Acquisition Regulation councils have adopted inflation adjustments in acquisition-related thresholds, effective Oct. 1.

The simplified acquisition threshold will be raised from $100,000 to $150,000. Contracts below that amount must be set aside for small businesses under the rule of two.

The prime contractor subcontracting plan floor will be raised from $550,000 to $650,000 and the construction threshold of $1 million increases to $1.5 million. Prime contractors on contracts above those levels must submit small business subcontracting plans.

The micro-purchase base threshold of $3,000 will not be changed.

The FedBizOpps pre-award and post-award notices remain at $25,000 because of trade agreements.

Commercial items test program ceiling will be raised from $5.5 million to $6.5 million.

The cost and pricing data threshold will be raised from $650,000 to $700,000.

Most of the inflation adjustments are required by law every five years.
