8(a) Companies Win Big on Navy Contract

Five 8(a) companies will compete for up to $200 million in construction work for the Navy.

They were chosen for design/build indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts for construction, renovation, alteration, design, and repairs of facilities in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and North Carolina.

The firms will compete for up to $8 million in task orders apiece each year. The total potential value of all contracts is $200 million over five years.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, in Norfolk, VA, solicited 90 proposals for the set-aside contract and received 12 offers. The winners:

•Chesapeake Contractors JV LLC, Williamsburg, VA;
•York River Electric, Yorktown, VA;
•Bay Electric Corp., Newport News, VA;
•THR Enterprises Inc., Norfolk, VA; and
•Arriba Corp., Norfolk, VA.
