  • Government to buy less IT

The forecast for federal information technology purchases shows negative growth for the next five years, Deltek reported.

The contractor-addressable IT market for defense IT is projected to drop to $53 billion in fiscal 2018, down from $61.5 billion in fiscal 2013. That is a -2.9% cumulative annual growth rate.

Civilian IT falls less steeply, from $40.9 billion to $39.6 billion over the five-year period; so does intelligence-related IT, sliding from $10.1 billion to $9.5 billion.
