Industry likes schedules plans: GSA
The government did two surveys on the planned consolidation of the Multiple Award Schedules, and the results are in: contractors like the plans.
The General Services Administration published two Requests for Information in June--one on its proposed Consolidation Solicitation Format and Terms & Conditions, and the second on Large Categories, Subcategories and Special Item Numbers (SINs).
Of the 586 responses, nearly all were positive. According to the GSA:
- Almost 94% of respondents said the solicitation format was clear;
- 88% said the solicitation format would be a benefit to industry;
- Nearly 88% said the format would benefit federal agency customers; and
- Nearly 94% of contractors agreed with the proposed terms and conditions and 88% agreed with the excluded clauses.
For the Large Category, Subcategory, and SIN RFI, GSA received 480 completed responses, from both current schedule holders and prospective contractors. According to GSA,
- 84% of current contractors agreed that the mapping from current schedules and SINs to the new large categories, subcategories and SINs is clear;
- 78% agreed with the mapping of their current SINs;
- 91% of prospective offerors said the large categories are clear; and
- 83% of prospective contractors agreed that the subcategories and SINs are clear.
GSA officials said they hope to release the final solicitation by Oct. 1. There will be 30 days of advance notice.
