Industry Group To Candidates: Check the Facts

The Contract Services Association called on Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Clinton nd Barack Obama to correct what the group says are inaccurate criticisms of federal contractors.

CSA said Sen. Clinton asserted that contractor employees are more expensive than federal workers, while the Office of Management and Budget has found the government saves money when contractors win public-private job competitions.

CSA said Sen. Obama attacked contracts in Iraq that he charged were awarded “on the sole basis of who you know and the favors you’ve done.” The industry group said, “This is simply not true.”

CSA President Barry Cullen said the candidates’ “statements are great in terms of scoring cheap political points, but do a disservice to the over one hundred thousand contractor personnel alone who are supporting our troops in Iraq.”

He urged Clinton and Obama to correct the record. “At a very minimum, they need to check the facts before making such inaccurate and misleading statements.”
