...And the Beginning of an Era

A Georgia company has won the first contract set aside for woman-owned businesses, 3,841 days after the program was signed into law.

The VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA, awarded a $50,000 contract for courier service to Handling Your Bizzness Inc. of Sylvania, GA. The contract was awarded through a reverse auction.

After President Clinton signed the law in the final month of his administration, the Bush administration sat on the women’s contracting program throughout its eight year-tenure while conducting several studies. The Obama administration implemented the law this year.
