DOT IG faults small biz contracting
The Transportation Department is not doing enough to supervise contracting with small disadvantaged businesses, according to a new report from the Office of Inspector General.
DOT’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) program distributed almost $3 billion in fiscal 2010. However, disadvantaged firms made up nearly 25% of active fraud investigations that year. Currently, they represent 29%.
“Our audit found that the Department does not provide effective program management for the DBE program,” the IG concluded.
