Corners Construction Co. of Chico, CA, was declared ineligible for a service-disabled veteran-owned business set-aside because it did not renew its SDV certification with the Veterans Affairs Department. Corners was listed in the VA database of SDVs at the time it bid on the contract, but by the time VA awarded the contract the company’s one-year certification had expired. VA awarded the work to the second-lowest bidder.

The Government Accountability Office rejected Corners’ protest, saying VA’s interpretation of the law was reasonable.
