Acquisition Panel Will Hear Public Comments

The Office of Federal Procurement Policy’s Acquisition Advisory Panel has announced three open meetings to hear public comments on its review of procurement policies.

The meetings are May 17 in Washington; May 23 at the Fritz G. Lanham Federal Center in Fort Worth, TX; and June 21 in San Francisco.

Congress created the panel in the Services Acquisition Reform Act of 2004 to review all federal acquisition laws, regulations and policies. Its 14 members are equally divided between government and the private sector. Its report is due early next year.

At its February meeting the panel set initial priority issues:

*Commercial practices and commercial items;

*Performance-based contracting;

*Governmentwide contracts and interagency contract vehicles;

*Small business; and

*The federal acquisition workforce.

It has since heard presentations from executives of several large corporations on how they handle acquisition and outsourc-ing of services.

Those wishing to speak at the meetings must register one week in advance with anne.terry@gsa.gov. Those wishing to attend but not speak must also register one week in advance with laura.auletta@gsa.gov.

Details about the panel are available at www.acqnet.gov/aap.
