GSA Awards Alliant Contracts GSA has chosen 59 companies for its $50 billion Alliant government-wide acquisition contract, twice as many as were originally awarded places on the contract. The first round of awards was blocked by a federal court a year ago after losing bidders protested. This time GSA officials said they are confident the selection process will withstand any protests. That’s a good bet, because every company that submitted an acceptable offer received a contract, Government Executive magazine reported. Of 62 companies whose bids were deemed satisfactory last year, three had merged with other bidders. In the second round of selections GSA met with bidders and advised them how to update and improve their proposals. “A major part of the strategy was to make absolutely sure there were no major grounds for challenge,” said Michael Sade, assistant commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service. GSA selected 72 companies for its $15 billion Alliant Small Business GWAC in December.
