GSA cancels signature Expo 2013 event
The General Services Administration has decided not to hold its annual “Expo” and training conference this year, owing to budget pressures and travel restrictions.
The GSA’s signature event for federal executives and industry members had been known to attract nearly 10,000 people in previous years. Last year, limits on travel brought that down by about half.
This year’s Expo had been scheduled for May 14-16 in Orlando.
Other federal event cancellations this year include a Military Health System conference and a Navy IT exposition.
It is reportedly the first time in the approximately 20 years of the GSA Expo that it has been canceled.
The GSA invited staff and industry members to use free training services online.
