Alliant Industry Days Are Set

GSA has announced a new schedule of industry days for its Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract.

Alliant is the successor to six GWACs that will be expiring over the next few years. GSA officials say it will be the largest contract vehicle in history, with a $150 billion ceiling over 15 years.

The industry day schedule calls for separate morning and afternoon sessions each day:

*March 22 in Oakland, CA;

*March 29 in Washington;

*April 12 in Chicago;

Because space is limited, you must register in advance to attend. Forms are available at www.gsa.gov/alliant under “Planned Events.”

GSA has been saying it would award about 20 contracts, with five of them set aside for small businesses. However, the contracting officer in San Diego, Bill Archambeault, said in January that small firms would need to form teams to cover the full range of IT solutions. (SAA, 1/23)

GSA was scheduled to submit its business plan to the Office of Management and Budget this month, seeking final approval to go ahead with the contract, said Tina Burnette, deputy assistant commissioner of the Federal Supply Service.

The Alliant GWAC was created after GSA’s Contract Vehicle Review Board recommended eliminating some GWACs that seemed to duplicate other multiple award contracts. Alliant will assume some of the requirements of the Millennia, ANSWER, Access Certificates for Electronic Services (ACES), Disaster Recovery, SmartCards and Virtual Data Center GWACs.
