    • Cantwell new chair

          Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-WA, is the new chair of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, taking over for Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-LA.

          Before being elected, Cantwell was an executive at Real Networks when it was a startup in Seattle.

          She has expressed interest in reestablishing a program to allow small businesses to use the SBA’s 504 loans to refinance their commercial real estate mortgages. It expired in 2012.
