Matchmaking Sessions Are Set

SBA has announced four regional Business Matchmaking events this year and has launched a package of online matchmaking tools.

Face-to-face sessions matching small firms with corporate and government buyers will be held Feb. 13 in Oakland, CA; Aug. 2 in Houston; Sept. 22 in Philadelphia; and Nov. 16 in Miami.

SBA said the program has generated more than 36,000 one-on-one appointments and $37 million in contracting opportunities since it began in 2003.

The events are cosponsored by SBA, SCORE-Counselors to America’s Small Business, and HP.

The new Business Matchmaking Online Network will offer web-based educational tools including a Virtual Business Matchmaking Workshop, “webinars” featuring procurement and supplier diversity experts, and links to helpful resources.

“Business Matchmaking has been a tremendous success over the past three years and I am very pleased to see the initiative continue to grow in 2006,” said SBA Administrator Hector Barreto.
