Army Prepares IT Set-Aside

The Army plans a multiple award IT services contract set aside for small businesses.

The Army Small Computer Program is developing the acquisition strategy for the Information Technology Services Small Business (ITS-SB) contract, according to the project director, Micki Laforgia. She said the set-aside is a complement to the Information Technology Enterprise Services – 2 (ITES-2) contract that was awarded in December, 2006. She spoke Jan. 17 at a meeting of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association in Bethesda, MD.

Rather than duplicating the existing contract, Laforgia said the new one will cover services not included in ITES-2, such as some maintenance, and new requirements such as green IT.

In a sources sought notice published last month, the Army said contractors will be required to have a Secret security clearance, and some tasks may require Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.

The notice said the contract will “support the Army’s Enterprise Infrastructure and Infostructure goals.”

The notice was issued under solicitation number W91QUZ-08-R-0011.
