UPDATE: GSA Plans Public Meeting on Sales to State, Local Governments

GSA has issued a proposed rule allowing state and local governments to buy information technology products and services through GSA Schedule 70 contracts.

The E-Government Act of 2002 authorized opening the schedules to state and local buyers for the first time.

GSA plans a public meeting on the proposed rule Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at its auditorium, 1800 F Street NW, in Washington.

Under the proposed rule, Schedule 70 contractors are not required to sell to state and local governments. They may choose to stay out of that market altogether or, if they do participate, may decline any individual order. The proposed rule is GSAR Case No. 2002-G505 in the Jan. 23 Federal Register.
