FY2022 plans released

      Federal agencies have released their acquisition forecasts for fiscal 2022 to help small contractors plan ahead.

      While most forecasts are available through Web links from Acquisition.gov, some are harder to locate, and some are poorly labeled, outdated or nonexistent.

      To date, 16 out of 22 civilian agencies have published their fiscal 2022 forecasts in easy-to-find locations linked from the Acquisition.gov website.

      However, only 8 out of 14 Defense Dept. agencies did the same.

      While a 1988 law orders agencies to publish a list of upcoming contracting opportunities each fiscal year, the law does not specify how to do it.

      Consequently, each agency has its own format and labeling. Some use Microsoft Excel to display it. Others offer online search.

      Here are Set-Aside Alert’s links to the fiscal 2022 forecasts.

• Those marked with an “(*)” did not link clearly and directly from Acquisition.gov. They needed additional searching.
• Those marked with a “(**)” were either outdated, improperly labeled or non-existent. For example, for the DOT, the “current” procurement forecast labeled “4th Quarter” turned up a number of contracts dating from the 4th quarter of fiscal 2019.

      The Treasury Dept.’s forecast that linked from Acquisition.gov was labeled for fiscal 2021.
